The read Glen’s take, in his words
Let me walk you through what Glen Fewster calls the most thorough purification method available for drinking water. Distillation. Chapter five of his book, Make Water Your Business.
Here's why I keep coming back to this chapter. Distillation removes ninety-nine point nine percent of all contaminants — PFAS, heavy metals, bacteria, disinfection byproducts, pharmaceuticals. It boils the water and condenses the steam, leaving every contaminant behind in the boil chamber. No filter to clog. No membrane to fail. It's the physics of phase change doing the work.
Most households don't use it because it's slow and costs energy. But for pure drinking water, nothing else comes close. Glen lays out exactly how he uses it in chapter five.
